Overview
The Hellsing Organization is a supernatural collective dedicated to protecting mankind from a war that rages in the Earth's shadows in which humanity is only a pawn. Led by Integra Hellsing, the heiress of the legendary Hellsing Family, the agency sets on the crusade with Arucard, a renegade vampire who fights for humanity. Hellsing has recently been coming across artificially spawned vampires so powerful that they can do nothing to stop them. So, the Organization calls in Arucard, a rogue vampire who combats this army of the undead with Seras Victoria, a female companion he rescued from death by vampirizing.
Sounds cool doesn't it!
Review
I'll be straight up honest with you guys, I am not a fan
of occult subjects like demons, Ghosts and Vampires, but
I did sit through the entire 13 episode series and I have
to say the character Arucard is one of the baddest vampires
that has ever been put on film. Don't get me wrong Blade
is pretty wicked but Arucard is Hell incarnate. He's kind
of like a hero from a Go
Nagai story.
The show starts out pretty basic, but you immediately realize that there is some next level s**t goin on and it compels you to proceed viewing and surprisingly is very enjoyable.
The artwork is OK; not the best in anime and trust me I've seen mind boggling
hours of it (I know the artwork was done by Gonzo but
it's still lacking). The music is really good though,
since it's usually the opposite of what the emotional state
of the scene is. I like quirky a la Cowboy Bebop, so this
show hands it out pretty generous.
Considering the entire story can be told in a little over 5 hours, I would highly recommend this to any Vampire or Goth lover out there.
So there you go.
