Farscape
Complete DVD Collection
Unless
you've been living under a rock for the past 5 years (or
you don't have the SciFI network on cable) you've heard
of and possibly even seen an episode or two of SciFi channel's
Farscape.
You take one scientist, toss in a wormhole, add a living
ship and a cast of very strange costars and a puppet or
two, and, in a nutshell, you have the cast of Farscape.
John Criton, American Astronaut, inadvertently activates
a wormhole that propels him across the galaxy into the middle
of a huge space battle. As luck would have it, his sudden
appearance accidentally forces a ship to crash. This ship
was piloted by the brother of the head of one side of the
fighting force (the Peacekeepers).
John somehow manages to get towed to another ship where
prisoners are escaping the peacekeepers in a living ship,
a Leviathan, called 'Moya'.
This happens within the first 10 minutes of the first episode.
So, if you blinked, you might've missed something.
Throughout the 4 seasons, the plot twists, the romances,
the space battles, and the stories were always incredible.
Of the total 88 episodes, if there were 5 'poor' stories,
I'd be surprised.
The writing was always top notch and whether it was a one
or two episode story arch, or season (or multiple season)
long story arch, the writing was consistent, varied and
never cliché.
The show lasted through 4 seasons (all episodes are now
available on DVD) - and it was cancelled in mid-2003. Through
a huge outpouring of fan support (www.savefarscape.com),
Sci-Fi channel is supposedly 'wrapping up' all of the loose
ends in a 4-hour mini-series dubbed "The Peacekeeper
War" that will air near the end of 2004.
If you have never seen a Farscape episode, I encourage anyone
who reads SciFi/Fantasy, watches Star Trek, or just loves
a good story to watch Farscape. You won't be disappointed.

Listen up people, I have to agree with everything my brother-in-law
has to say about Farscape, if it wasn’t for him I
would have missed out on a truly awesome Science Fiction
experience. God knows I try to miss out on as few as possible.
I’ve seen seasons one - three and all I can say is
DAMN!!! This show so gives Babylon
5 a run for its money and please Star Trek will never
be able to touch this. I’m itching and scratching
to watch season 4 once they make it into a purchasable collection
and then to finish it off right, see the ‘The Peacekeeper
War’ later this year on the Sci-Fi channel.
Don’t be silly, check it out.
