Review

OK, so why is CB so amazing? I'll be truthful, it's something that is very hard to define, but when you walk away, you'll feel like something better has happened in your life. It's like when you saw the breakfast club or sixteen candles for the very first time. You thought these movies defined the time period, you wanted to be every character in those movies and by god the music was so cool. Well that's the same feeling I got from this series, the style was flawless. Style, style, and more style. Damn, that's a lot of style.

The main characters Spike, Jet, Faye, and Edward, the latter two you don't meet until a little further into the series are just the most interesting characters that have ever been put on TV. Spike is a zoot suit wearing martial arts expert who used to be mafia. Jet is a former Detective who has a cybernetic arm and is captain of the starship BEBOP. Faye Valentine is women whose been brought back to life after being frozen for decades and has no recollection of her previous life. Edward is a young female hacker who is completely out of her mind and probably out of her body as well. Oh yeah and they have a data dog named Ein.

The artwork is top notch, I haven't seen its equal...yet (Evangelion and RahXephon are close as hell though). The people who worked on Escaflowne TV are responsible for CB. The music is the shiznit, jazz, punk, you name it they drop these tunes in at the right place at the right time for whatever goes on, be it a gunfight or space battles. I think Peter F. Hamilton stole a lot of stuff from this show for Pandora's Star. They travel around the solar system and beyond via Hyperspace Highways like in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Sorry, no aliens in this show, just strange people.

Be warned this is not Star Wars, this is art, rich stories and tons of (once again) STYLE!! Very limited in the ray gun department and no one wields the power to change the universe in this show. Though none of that changes how great this animated series really is.

Must See Anime!!
